A Christ-centered recovery program
based on 8
Godly Principles
and a 12 Step Process
The Purpose: The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to
provide a safe, non-judgmental place where hurting people can open up
and share their struggles, strengths and hopes with one another. It also
provides caring fellowship where people can celebrate God’s healing
power in their lives and give hope to others. By working and applying
the 8 Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually, and become
willing to accept God’s grace in solving our problems, which leads us to
freedom from our compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom
creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal
relationship with God and others.
History: The material was
written by Pastors Rick Warren and John Baker from Saddleback Church in
Lake Forest, California, and was initiated in 1991. It has a long track
record of accomplishing the above described purpose in a variety of
settings and individual circumstances. In fact, it is so successful it
is currently being used nationwide and overseas and is also being
implemented in many prison systems across the country and around the
world.
